General Introduction
Dear Photonics@be network community,
Please find the preliminary information about the Doctoral School we organize in "Domein Westhoek" at Oostduinkerke on March 28-30, 2011
This year, the Doctoral School is devoted to "Waveguiding in optics" and will comprise
- invited lectures;
- talks from IAP participants;
- informal talks between participants;
- poster session.
The tentative program schedule is the following:
- Basics of waveguiding;
- Nonlinear effects in optical fibers;
- Plasma physics;
- Photonic crystal fibers;
- Photonic crystal waveguide;
- Visualisation of fields in waveguides;
- Distributed measurement in optical fibers;
This fifth school should be a special exchange forum for early stage researchers, senior scientists, professors and international guests to share experience, create new links and strenghten existing collaborations between the teams.
The following speakers have already accepted to give a tutorial: Wim Bogaert (UGent, Belgium), Miguel Gonzalez-Herraez (Alcala University, Spain), Luc Bergé (CEA, France), Philip Russell (Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light, Germany), Kobus Kuipers (University of Twente, the Netherlands), William Whelan-Curtin (University of St-Andrews, UK) and Fabien Ravet (Omnisens, Switzerland).
